The Year Of The RabbitThursday 3rd February 2011
![]() We learned a bit about the Chinese New Year today which starts on Thursday. It is an important celebration for the Chinese and they decorate their houses with bright lights just like we do at Christmas. We enjoyed watching a video of the Dragon and Lion dances. We also wrote down our New Year resolutions on what we want to improve on in school in this year of the Rabbit.
In Vietnam they also celebrate the New Year at this time but they call it Tet, I wonder if Angus is celebrating it too. Miss Meikle has been teaching the children about 3D shape and they used the shapes to build this traditional Chinese house. Many of the homes are built in a courtyard with only one entrance and this entrance is decorated for Chinese New Year. ![]() Here are the masks we made for chinese new year. ![]() |
